Kazanska Bogorodica kreće iz Vatikana u Rusiju

Vatikan, Moskva, 26. avgusta (Tanjug) - Specijalne vjerske službe i ceremonije ispratiće iz Vatikana u Moskvu ikonu Kazanske Bogorodice, poznate kao „Zaštitnica Rusije” koja se kući vraća 28. avgusta, na pravoslavni praznik Uspenije Presvete Bogorodice.

Ikona će danas, 26. avgusta, cio dan biti u oltaru Crkve Svetog Petra, gdje će joj hodočastiti vjernici.

Papa Jovan Pavle II je juče, u prisustvu 5.000 vjernika, predao tu pravoslavnu svetinju šefu delegacije Svete stolice koja putuje u ruski glavni grad, kardinalu Valteru Kasperu, javljaju „Glas Rusije” i „Radio Vatikan”.

Kardinal Kasper, inače predsjednik Papinskog vijeća za jedinstvo hrišćana, predaće u subotu u Moskvi ikonu Kazanske Bogorodice patrijarhu Moskve i cijele Rusije Aleksiju II.

Prije nego što je papa juče povjerio tu pravoslavnu svetinju kardinalu Kasperu, izjavio je da je ona „majčinskim pogledom pratila” njegovo „svakodnevno služenje Crkvi” i da je od samoga početka želio da ona bude vraćena na tlo Rusije, jer se „oko ikone Majke Božje Kazanske razvila istorija tog velikog naroda.”

Pope: "The icon of Kazan is a token of my affection for our Orthodox brothers"

Vatican City (AsiaNews) – The icon of Kazan is a token of the "affection the Successor of Peter has for Russian Patriarch Alexis II, the Russian Synod, and all the faithful in their trust".

May Our Lady of Kazan intercede "so that East and West may be united as soon as possible," said the Holy Father this morning in the Paul VI Hall during the tribute he and others –cardinals, bishops, faithful– paid to the icon of Kazan.

The Pope is giving the icon –hitherto guarded in the Papal apartment– to the Russian Orthodox Church so that it may be venerated by the entire Russian people. He ended the ceremony celebrating the precious image by kissing it and then handing it over to the delegation that will soon bring it to Moscow.

Walter Cardinal Kasper, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, will lead the Vatican delegation. He will be joined in Moscow by Mgr. Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, Catholic Archbishop of Moscow and President of the Conference of Bishops in Russia, and Mgr. Antonio Mennini, Vatican representative to the Russian Federation.

During Wednesday's general audience the Pope devoted the traditional speech to his personal veneration of the icon of Kazan. "Many times," the Holy Father said, "I called on the Mother of God of Kazan to protect and guide the Russian people. A people, that of 'Holy Rus', which has remained profoundly Christian, its faithfulness to the Gospels written in blood" even when "hostile forces furiously attacked the Church and tried to wipe out the Holy Name of God."

The Pope concluded saying that the icon of Kazan expressed "the desire and steadfast will of the Pope of Rome to progress together on the path of mutual understanding and reconciliation" and "complete unity of believers" in Christ.

Following his speech a prayer by the Pope to Our Lady of Kazan was read in Russian.

Here is the full text of the Pope's homily:

Dearest brothers and sisters!

"As announced last Sunday, our traditional weekly meeting is different this time. We are in fact gathered together in prayer before the venerable icon of the Mother of God of Kazan on the eve of its journey back to Russia whence it came a long time ago.

"After travelling from country to country it was for a long time in the Sanctuary of Fatima, in Portugal, and it is from there that it providentially came to be in the Pope's home.

"Its place was thereafter by my side maternally looking over my daily service to the Church.

"How many times did I call upon the Mother of God of Kazan to protect and guide the Russian people, whose devotion to Her is second to none.

"How many times did I call upon her to hasten the moment in which all of her Son's followers will recognise their common brotherhood and fully restore their compromised unity.

"Ever since she came to me I wanted the holy icon back on Russian soil where, according to reliable historical sources, generation after generation of the faithful venerated it.

"The icon of the Mother of God of Kazan was at the heart of Russia's historical development. "Russia, 'Holy Rus', has been Christian for centuries. Even when hostile forces furiously tried to destroy the Church and wipe out the Holy Name of God from the lives of men, its people remained profoundly Christian, its faithfulness to the Gospels and their principles every so often written in blood.

"It is therefore with great emotion that with you I thank the Divine Providence for allowing me to give the holy icon as a gift to the venerable Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia.

"Let this ancient image of the Mother of the Lord tell His Holiness Alexis II and the venerable Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of the affection the Successor of Peter has for them and all the faithful in their trust.

"Let it tell them of his esteem for the great spiritual tradition of which the Holy Russian Church is the keeper.

"Let it tell them of the Pope of Rome's desire and steadfast will to progress together with them on the path of mutual understanding and reconciliation so that Christians may soon reach that unity for which the Lord Jesus prayed so fervently (cf. John 1: 20-22).

"Dearest Brothers and Sisters,

"As I give the icon to the delegation which will take it to Moscow on my behalf, join me in asking the Blessed Virgin Mary for her intercession."

Here is the full text of the Pope's prayer to Our Lady of Kazan:

"Glorious Mother of Jesus 'who proceed before the people of God on the path of faith, love and union with Christ' (cf. Lumen gentium, 63), may you be blessed! Every generation calls you blessed for 'The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name' (cf. Luke 1, 48-49).

"Oh Mother! May you be blessed and honoured through the icon of Kazan whom Orthodox believers have loved and venerated for centuries as the protectress and witness of God's will in the history of our beloved Russian people.

"Divine providence, whose power can defeat evil and turn even man's evil into good, allowed your holy icon, gone for so many years, to reappear in the Sanctuary of Fatima in Portugal.

"Thanks to people who are devoted to you your icon came to the Successor of Peter.

"Mother of the Orthodox people, the presence in Rome of the Holy Image of Kazan speaks to the profound and lasting unity between East and West that divisions and errors men made could not break.

"Oh, Virgin! We raise with all our hearts a special prayer to you as we say goodbye to the image.

"Our hearts will be with you as you travel to Holy Russia. Welcome the praise and honour the people of God in Rome bestows on you.

"Oh, blessed among women! Venerating your icon in this city touched by the blood of the Apostles Peter and Paul allows the Bishop of Rome to be spiritually one with his fellow Bishop, the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Papin izaslanik danas u Moskvi uručio ikonu Majke Božje Kazanske ruskome patrijarhu Alekseju II.

Danas je dopodne u Moskvi, u katedrali Marijina Usnuća u Kremlju, ikona Majke Božje Kazanske uručena ruskome patrijarhu Alekseju II.. Taj je čin snažno želio papa Ivan Pavao II., koji je gotovo 11 godina čuvao tu vrlo staru sliku u svojoj sobi u Apostolskoj palači u Vatikanu. Nakon stotinu godina, i nakon što je prošla više zemalja, stigavši u Fatimu, a potom, na providnosni način u Papin dom, sveta se ikona vratila na rusko tlo. Na koncu svečanosti koja je trajala više od tri sata, kardinal Walter Kasper, predsjednik Papinskoga vijeća za jedinstvo kršćana, predao je patrijarhu Alekseju II. ikonu, kao i posebno pismo Svetoga Oca, upućeno upravo za ovaj događaj. Unatoč podjeli koja, nažalost, još uvijek postoji među kršćanima, ova se sveta ikona pojavljuje kao jedan od simbola jedinstva učenikâ jedinoga Božjeg sina, Onoga prema kojemu nas ona vodi – stoji u Papinoj poruci. Sveti je Otac, između ostaloga, u pismu patrijarhu Alekseju II. napomenuo kako se molio pred ovom svetom slikom, da dođe dan kada ćemo svi biti sjedinjeni i kada ćemo moći naviještati, jednim glasom u vidljivome zajedništvu, spasenje našega jedinoga Gospodina, i njegovu pobjedu nad svim zlim i grješnim silama koje napadaju našu vjeru i naše svjedočanstvo jedinstva. Nakon dugoga razdoblja kušnji i patnji, koje su u posljednjemu stoljeću pogodile Rusku Pravoslavnu Crkvu i ruski narod – istaknuo je nadalje Sveti Otac – Gospodar povijesti, koji raspolaže sa svima, prema svojoj volji, danas nam daruje to da možemo biti u radosti i zajedničkoj nadi, u prigodi povratka ikone Majke Božje Kazanske u njezinu domovinu. Neka ova ikona vodi sve nas na našemu evanđeoskom putu slijedeći Krista, te neka zaštiti narod kojemu se vraća, kao i čitavo čovječanstvo – zazvao je na koncu poruke Sveti Otac. Papina je poruka, dakle, puna iščekivanja za buduće odnose između ruskih katolika i pravoslavaca, te za jedinstvo svih kršćana. Nije slučajno da ova ikona ostaje jedna od najvažnijih za Rusiju – kazao je patrijarh Aleksej II.. Ona je važna za Crkvu općenito, važna je i za katolike, jer podsjeća na vremena u kojima kršćanstvo nije bilo podijeljeno – pojasnio je Patrijarh. Predaju ikone u katedraliUsnuća, u kojoj su nekada krunjeni carevi, popratile su pjesme i molitve. Svečanosti je prethodila sveta Misa koju je služio patrijarh Aleksej II., koji je tom prigodom istaknuo da je Rusija 'dom' svete Djevice, a Kremlj je, sa svojim katedralama, 'srce' Rusije. Kardinal Kasper je pak podsjetio da Gospu Kazansku štuju i katolici, te da sveta Djevica ujedinjuje u molitvi dva dijela kršćanstva, unatoč žalosnim nesporazumima. Zahvaljujući Svetomu Ocu za ovaj dar, Patrijarh je napomenuo kako su se vratile brojne svete slike, nestale tijekom komunizma. Ovo je kopija Kazanske ikone koja je imala dug i težak put – kazao je na koncu Patrijarh. U izaslanstvu Svete Stolice u Moskvi bio je i Joaquín Navarro Valls, ravnatelj Tiskovnoga ureda Svete Stolice, koji je u razgovoru za Radio Vatikan kazao kako svi, i s pravoslavne i s katoličke strane, ovaj trenutak smatraju povijesnim. Možda će se o današnjemu danu govoriti za nekoliko stotina godina, kao o danu kada je Papa, svojom odlukom, omogućio da se Gospa Kazanska vrati u svoju istočnu zemlju. Ovim se danom oživljuje svijest o novoj nadi, kako bi se zajedno nadvladale i povijesne teškoće koje su se pojavile u deset stoljeća problema. Nema sumnje, dakle, da je ovo nov početak – kazao je ravnatelj Tiskovnoga ureda Svete Stolice.

Agni Parthene (Αγνή Παρθένε, Fecioara curata) is a liturgical hymn composed by St. Nectarios of Aegina. St. Nektarios liked to compose hymns in honor of the Mother of God to deepen his personal prayer and relationship with her. The tradition passed down at the monastery of St. Nektarios, in Aegina, Greece, is that the Lady herself appeared before him and requested that he record on paper a particular hymn the angelic choirs were about to sing. This hymn was the "Agni Parthene" (Агні Партене, Агни Парфене).

Dijana S: To s tim ikonama iznenadjuje. Vasi ziloti, tj. hard-line katolici, priznaju divotu nasih ikona?! (Digresija, je li to, i ostalo sto vodi priblizavanju i priznavanju, novina kod vas, nakon 1964., ili kad je to skinuta uzajamna anatema?)

Mnogo vrlo poznatih a jednim od najštovanijih vijekovima kod katolika su upravo te naslikane u bizantskom stilu, pokušaj pogoditi koja je ovo, katolička je, jedna od najpoznatijih u svijetu. Nije to nikakva novota, ikone u bizantskom slogu - stilu su oduvijek bile štovane i na zapadu.

Da, to nije tako baš ni slučajno jer je papa Wojtyla bio veliki širitelj pobožnosti prema Bogorodici a prije nego što je postao papom bio je krakovskim arhiepiskopom i pod njegovu jurusdikciju je spadalo svetilište Bogorodice Čenstohovske koja za Poljake znači to isto što za Ruse Bogorodica Kazanska. A ta slika gore je ustvari fotografija dijela ikone Bogorodice Čenstohovske, to je veliko svjetski poznato marijansko svetilište u Poljskoj blizu Krakova. Ako se vratiš o par postova natrag taj video s tim njemačkim horom iz Einsiedelna, (Choir of the Cathedral of Einsiedeln, Salve Regina) tamo je naslikana ustvari bolje reći preslikana nekim od vjernika ta ista ikona Bogorodice Čenstohovske. Više o tome možeš pročitati na linku dole. Iza svake ikone stoji jedna velika priča, pročitaj kakvu sudbinu je imala ova ikona Bogorodice Čenstohovske, nešto je čak vezuje i sa Rusijom, Kazanom i s konom Bogorodice Kazanske, uvidiš tačno šta kad to pročitaš. Nadam se da ti ruski neće činiti problem.

Danas u Češkoj slavimo svetog Vaclava, mučenika, (rođen 907, postradao 935 godine, vladao češkom od 921. mošti su mu u katedrali svetog Vita u Pragu) češkog plemića, unuka svate Ludmile (svete Ljudmile). Oni su jedni od prvih i najstarijih slovenskih svetiteljki i svetitelja. Sveti Vaclav je zajedničkim svecem katoličke i pravoslavne Crkve i glavnim patronom češke zemlje. Česima on znači to isto što na primjer Srbima sveti Sava ili Ircima sveti Patrik. Riječi svatovaclavskog korala su prekrasne, muzika također, prava slovenska, teško reći šta je ljepše.

A mosaic studio in the heart of the Vatican

Inside a hidden part of the Vatican theres a room called the Vatican Mosaic studio. Its not the most spectacular room in the Vatican, but some of the most beautiful art will come out of this room, just like it did 500 years ago.

These mosaics make up one of the many artistic marvels in the city of Rome. And without a doubt, some of the best pieces are inside the Vatican. Though many people know about these beautiful works of art, few know the history behind them.

The first mosaics arrived in the Vatican at the end of the 16th century to decorate St. Peters Basilica. From that moment onward there was a prominent mosaic display in the Vatican.

Thirteen experts meticulously care for these works, some of the most beautiful in the Vatican. Without the work of this team one of the more prized treasures of St. Peters Basilica would have deteriorated and been lost forever.

The same procedure is still carried out on the works of art. The pieces are cut and carved according to the size required by the mosaic. With much precision and patience they are set on the frame over a plaster made with oil and wine.

Each single piece of the mosaic is an authentic piece of art in and of itself as each is designed and uniquely created.

This technique allows for the mixing of different types of varnish to make new color tones.

Among the 27,000 base colors the Vatican Mosaic Studio has the ones that are needed most at any given moment. They are heated at some 800 degrees giving way to a unique color tone and characteristic. The same piece can be worked on for five months.

These museum pieces are often the gifts that the pope gives visiting heads of state.

Often, themes like the front of St. Peters Basilica or the Christ of St. Peters tomb are chosen. Mater Ecclesie is another theme often chosen, which is the mosaic that is seen from St. Peters Square that was made after the attempt to assassinate John Paul II in 1981.

This is how works of art like these are born. They do not always reflect religious themes, and are often reproductions of famous paintings made for collectors. The pieces range in value from 3,000 to 200,000 Euros.

But admiring these works of art is priceless.
