Turkish court asks 'Gollum experts' if Erdoğan comparison is insult

The trial of a Turkish man accused of insulting the president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, by comparing him to Gollum has been adjourned so that a group of experts can study JRR Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings character, Turkish media has reported.

Bilgin Çiftçi was fired from his job at Turkey’s public health service in October after sharing images comparing Erdoğan’s facial expressions to those of Gollum.

According to a report in the daily newspaper Today’s Zaman, a court in Aydın has adjourned Çiftçi’s trial as the chief judge had not seen the Lord of the Rings films. The court-appointed experts have reportedly been asked to determine whether the comparison is indeed an insult.

 

Erdoğan’s reign has been characterised by intense pressure on the media and the prosecution of many local journalists. They have decried what they say is theworst crackdown on the press in the republic’s history, saying the Turkish president has little tolerance for mockery or dissent. 

Gollum is known for his grotesque appearance, his split personality, eating raw fish and disliking rabbit stew and potatoes, but also for assisting the hobbits Frodo and Sam in their quest to reach Mount Doom to destroy the Ring of Power, thereby defeating the evil Lord Sauron and ushering in an era of peace in the fictional world of Middle Earth. 

Some social media users have accused Erdoğan of being “precious” – a favourite word of Gollum – over any mockery. Others pointed out that a more apt comparison would be to compare Erdoğan to Denethor or Saruman, two tragic characters in JRR Tolkein’s trilogy who are undermined by their own ambitions.

Lončar je pojasnio da je izmenama Zakona o zdravstvenom osiguranju predviđeno da će ubuduće RFZO 35 odsto naknade trudnicama prebacivati na račun poslodavca, a ne na račun osiguranica, kako je do sada bio slučaj.

To je, prema njegovim rečima, dovodilo do kašnjenja u isplati tih sredstava, a novim rešenjem trudnice će biti u boljem položaju. 

Lončar je predstavio još jednu izmenu u tom zakonu, prema kojoj će potvrda o korišćenju zdravstvene zaštite u inostranstvu biti izdavana na period do kada je osiguranik upućen na rad u inostranstvo, a ne do 12 meseci kako je do sada bilo. 

Poslanici su započeli načelnu raspravu o tri zakonska predloga iz oblasti zdravstva, reč je o izmenama zakona o zdravstvenoj zaštiti, o zdravstvenom osiguranju i o zdravstvenoj dokumentaciji i evidencijama u oblasti zdravstva, koje je Lončar predstavio poslanicima. 

Kada su u pitanju izmene Zakona o zdravstvenoj zaštiti, Lončar je objasnio da će osnivačka prava nad kliničkim centrima biti preneta sa grada na republiku. 

Njima se, ponovo omogućava dopunski rad za medicinske radnike u ukupnom trajanju jedne trećine radnog vremena. 

Izmenama Zakona o zdravstvenoj dokumentaciji i evidencijama u oblasti zdravstva predviđeno je da dan stupanja na snagu tog zakona umesto 1. januar 2016. godine bude godinu dana kasnije.

Ваучери за домаће госте износиће пет хиљада динара, а агенције ће за странце добијати од 10 до 15 евра у зависности од броја ноћења

 

ПОДЕЛА ваучера за одмор у Србији почеће од 1. јануара 2016. године. Право на њихово коришћење је проширено, па ће од сада моћи да их користе и грађани који примају иностране пензије, али и они који имају регистрована пољопривредна домаћинства.

 

Како је рекао министар туризма Расим Љајић, очекује се од 45 до 50 хиљада људи који ће искористити ваучере. Ове године, за три и по месеца, искоришћено је 14.000 ваучера.

 

- У новом буџету за подстицаје домаћег туризма опредељено је 230 милиона динара - истакао је Љајић. - Од следеће године даваће се први пут подстицаји за организовани долазак страних туриста. Најмања група која може да користи овај ваучер је 15 туриста, средства за ту намену ће бити 120 милиона динара.

 

Ваучери за домаће госте износиће пет хиљада динара, а агенције ће за странце добијати од десет до 15 евра у зависности од броја ноћења.

The indignities visited upon the poor and homeless - victims of a failed system who nonetheless are routinely and supremely irrationally punished for that same failure - keep coming. In the U.K., where spikes and other anti-homeless gimmicks have proliferated, bus stations are marking this season of good will by blasting non-stop Christmas "music" by Alvin and the Chipmunks to drive out unfortunates trying to sleep rough there, a practice some compare to U.S. actions in Guantanamo. In this country, because it hasn't been enough for scores of cities to pass anti-homeless measures, a "Christian" ministry's homeless shelter in Williamsburg, Kentucky is celebrating wintertime and Christmas by evicting its homeless devil women - along with their female devil children - for causing a "sex problem."

 

Billy Woodward swears that by God his shelter isn't “biased or prejudiced whatsoever,” and of course he's heard that sex "takes  two," and maybe if these damn sinful strumpets "done it right, it would be fine. But, you know, they go overboard with it.” So out they go. Because his shelter is the only one in town, with the next closest 40 miles away,  it's unclear where these women and sometimes kids, many of whom are victims of domestic and sexual abuse, will go now. Still, Woodward knows he's got God on his side, and anyway his decision was based "on the Bible." Hmm. Which part? Proverbs 14:31? "Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God." Exodus 22:27? "For that is his only covering, and it is his cloak for his body; in what else shall he sleep? And if he cries to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate." Proverbs 3:27-28? "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act." Whatever. It's in there someplace. And praise Jesus.

Emergency Christian Ministries, the only homeless shelter in the city, has decided to evict the women currently living at the facility and ban further women from seeking shelter under its roof. The reason for the pre-Christmas removal of the shelter’s ladies? Sex, reports WYMT. The director of the Christian homeless shelter, Billy Woodward said that people are having sex at the shelter, and that behavior can’t be tolerated.

 

In addition to kicking out and banning women, the Christian homeless shelter has made the almost unbelievable decision to bar children in some cases, too. The reason? Some of them might be female or be living with a mother. When asked directly if the shelter would be willing to house children in any situation, Woodward replied, “Right now, no because of the female factor.”

 

When Woodward was asked how he’d come to his decision to remove current female residents from his Christian homeless shelter and ban additional women from seeking shelter just weeks before Christmas, he responded that his decision to evict females was “based on the Bible.” He went on to explain that the “sex problem” at the Christian homeless shelter was sinful.
