God Isn't in Control of Everything

 

I was having a conversation the other day with someone who asked, “Why does God allow bad things to happen?” The person who asked, believes in God, but wondered herself why, if as she said, “God is in control of everything,” why He allowed sickness and death for young people. Death and sickness is on our “collective” minds lately with the recent suicide of a young woman who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. My response to her might surprise you... God ISN’T in control of everything!

 

WHAT!? Consider the story of Jairus’ daughter and the women with the flow of blood, both of whom were healed by Jesus Christ. (read Luke 8.40-56) Both women suffered, one for twelve years, the other only twelve years of age. Both were allowed by God to suffer, one even unto death; one the daughter of a powerful leader of the synagogue, the other an unknown woman. Both healed privately by God, but showed publicly to large crowds. Both received a miracle from God while thousands of others continue in their suffering, eventually losing their battles with illness. Why did God heal these two women, while leaving so many others (down through the ages) to suffer?

 

The answer is that God has given up His “control over everything” by allowing us to enjoy free will. The reality of life, so painfully experienced by so many, and why I was asked this question just the other day, is that God allows many more to suffer than healing them through some sort of miracle. That makes EVERY miracle special; otherwise we would not consider it a miracle. What we can learn about the purpose of miracles is in what happens after the miracle has been made public. The crowd witnesses the power of God, and they are given the opportunity to believe in Him.

Ових дана сам разговарао са људима са "Orthodox Christian Network" (OCN) и питао их за дозволу да користимо неке њихове видео записе (беседа за сада) које бисмо преводили а успут би се нашао и неки текст. Пристали су под условом да јасно истакнемо извор материјала а такође су понудили да нам обезбеде страницу на српском језику која би обухватала текстове и титловане снимке које преведемо. Ствар је још у разматрању али надам се да ће успети.

За сада ћу бити концентрисан на то зависно колико будем био слободан али не би било лоше да имам једног или више сарадника са којим(а) бих унапредио рад. Ако има заинтересованих нека ми се јаве. 0703_read

Много је ту заслужна Ивона али је због обавеза нема ни на форуму нити ће моћи пре јануара-фебруара да се значајније ангажује па ће знање и добра воља братије и сестара одавде заиста добро доћи.

Има ли добровољ(а)ца за писање титлова? Брат Милутин (Zero) је доста урадио до сада откуцавши текст за пет беседа одавде: https://www.pouke.org/forum/topic/36940-be-transfigured-live-a-new-life-in-christ/.
Ако је неко расположен да се придружи превођењу по приложеном моделу нека се јави неком од нас да га убацимо у преписку (има места за још троје) па ће тамо видети текстове које треба обрадити.

 

Титлове у прилогу је урадила ivona а убацио сам их само као пример. Могу да послуже и као шаблон у који би се уписивале ознаке за време и из преведеног текста убацивали одговарајући делови.

Everyone is Welcomed by God

 

We live in world consumed by prejudice. Our children are sometimes treated as outsiders by other students in school. Our friends are sometimes viewed as strangers at work by their coworkers. Our family is sometimes feels unwelcomed in the very neighborhoods in which we have lived for years. Feeling unwelcomed can be a crippling reality that forces many families to remain isolated and separate from even the closest human being. Eventually, the constant feeling of being unwelcomed can fool us into believing that even God won’t welcome us in His Church. But still we come because in our heart we know that God can help us, if only He could see past our faults.

 

I imagine these were the exact emotions share by ten men who approached Jesus Christ to be healed. In the story of the Ten Lepers, we witness the effect of God’ never-ending love on the lives of ten outcasts of society. Ten men who we unwelcomed by their fellow town-folk came to God, begging for mercy, and they were each healed by Jesus Christ. Ten men who were courageous enough to “tune out” the words of others and approach God were given a new chance at life.

 

It didn’t matter that these ten men were shunned by other “more respectable” members of the city. It didn’t matter that these men were foreigners rather than local insiders. Each was healed by God. But we learn one additional and more important lesson from this story. It was the ONE man who returned to worship God that was “made well” and honored by Jesus. And he was a foreigner! Just goes to show you, EVERYONE is welcome by God.....but not everyone will take the time to worship Him and give Him thanks. Which one are you?
