"Over the Hills and Far Away" is a traditional British song, dating back to at least the late 17th century. One version was published in Thomas D'Urfey's Wit and Mirth, or Pills to Purge Melancholy; a very different one appeared in George Farquhar's 1706 play The Recruiting Officer. A version also appears in John Gay's The Beggar's Opera of 1728.

The words have changed over the years, as can be seen in the versions below. The only consistent element in early versions is the title line and the tune.

Traditional, c. 1720; followed by "Napoleonic" version by John Tams

Hark now the drums beat up again
For all true soldier gentlemen
So let us list and march I say
And go over the hills and far away
Chorus:
Over the hills, and o'er the main
To Flanders, Portugal and Spain
Queen Anne commands and we'll obey
And go over the hills and far away.

2. There's twenty shillings on the drum
For him that with us freely comes
'Tis volunteers shall win the day
Over the hills and far away.
Chorus:

3. Come gentlemen that have a mind
To serve a queen that's good and kind
Come list and enter in to pay
And go over the hills and far away.
Chorus:

4. And we shall live more happy lives
Free of squalling brats and wives
Who nag and vex us every day
So its over the hills and far away.
Chorus:

5. Prentice Tom may well refuse
To wipe his angry master's shoes
For now he's free to run and play
Over the hills and far away.
Chorus:

6. No more from sound of drum retreat
When Marlborough and Galway beat
The French and Spaniards every day
Over the hills and far away.
Chorus:

Lucerna corporis tui est oculus tuus. Si oculus tuus fuerit simplex, totum corpus tuum lucidum erit. Si autem oculus tuus fuerit nequam, totum corpus tuum tenebrosum erit. Evangelium Secundum Matthaeum 6, 22-23

In nomine + Patris, et + Filii, et Spiritus + Sancti. Amen.

The fountain is mentioned in a number of works of literature, for instance John Milton’s pastoral elegy Lycidas (l. 85) and his masque Arcades, as well as Alexander Pope’s satire The Dunciad (Bk 2, l. 342) and William Wordsworth's blank verse poem The Prelude(Bk X, l. 1033). These writers would have known the fountain from references in ancient Roman and Greek sources, such as Virgil's 10th Eclogue (l. 1) and Theocritus' pastoral poem Idylls (I, l. 117). Virgil reckons the eponymous nymph as the divinity who inspired bucolic or pastoral poetry.

The Fountain of Arethusa and the river Fiumefreddo in the province of Catania are the only two places in Europe where papyrus grows.

"Grobe moj! Zašto te zaboravljam? Ti me čekaš, čekaš i ja ću se sigurno nastaniti u tebi. Zašto te zaboravljam i ponašam se kao da je grob sudbina samo drugih ljudi a ne i moja?"
