Israel, one of the most highly vaccinated countries in the world, is experiencing such an unprecedented surge in cases that American citizens are now advised not to travel to the country.

According to NBC News, Israel now says the Pfizer vaccines are down to only 39% efficacy and possibly lower, as around 60% of people hospitalized for COVID-19 in the country are fully vaccinated.

da probamo sa jednostavnijim primerom... imaš 100 jabuka od kojih je 80 zelenih i 20 crvenih jabuka... posle nekog vremena shvatiš da je 10 počelo da truli od kojih su 60% zelene... dakle, 6 zelenih i 4 crvene...

Koje jabuke su sklonije truljenju? Šta je veći procenat: 6 od 80 ili 4 od 20 ? 

Jel više 7,5% ili 20%?

Na ovom primeru lako možeš i da izračunaš efikasnost i ista iznosi 62,5% iako je među trulim 60% zelenih jabuka.

Odnos u ukupnom broju je 80:20 tj. 4 prema 1. To znači da bi na 4 trule crvene trebalo da bude 16 trulih zelenih jabuka.... a ima ih samo 6... znači 10 je spašeno...

To znači da šta god te jabuke čini manje sklonim truljenju ima efikasnost od 62,5%  (spašava 10 od 16)...

The current COVID-19 vaccines were developed to protect against the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 that became the dominant strain worldwide. As other variants spread, scientists have raised questions about whether ineffective vaccines can lead to ADE. 

Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), is a phenomenon in which the binding of a virus to suboptimal antibodies induced by ‘leaky vaccines,’ enhances its entry into host cells, followed by replication.

One study from earlier this year suggests this could potentially be an issue with the current vaccines.

“Current SARS-CoV-2 vaccines appear to be providing protection with high antibody titers; the possibility of ADE risks associated with waning titers of antibodies over time remains unknown.”

 

Posle koliko stotina miliona vakcinisanih postaja prilično bezvezna priča o tome da postoji hipotetički rizik za ADE čija je izvesnost nepoznata?t

Pretpostavljam da se u međuvremenu bar nekom ostvario hipotetički rizik da mu padne klavir na glavu dok šeta ulicom...

Another study, Jaume et al., points out the potential pitfalls associated with immunizations against SARS-CoV-1. The study predicts that new attempts to create either SARS-CoV-1 vaccines, MERS-CoV vaccines, or SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have potentially higher risks for inducing ADE in humans facilitated by antibody infection of immune cells. 

Ovu nisam ni tražio jer nema link ali sama formulacija ovog članka je idiotska... ima studija koja predviđa da će nove, još ne napravljene vakcine imati veći rizik za ADE od dosadašnjih za koje je "the possibility of ADE risks associated with waning titers of antibodies over time remains unknown.”  

Nove, nepoznate vakcine će imati veći rizik od ovog nepoznatog hipotetičkog koji se još nije ostvario?

Now a new paper out of Japan declares that the now-dominant Delta variant of coronavirus is mutating in a way that either has, or may soon produce ADE to the Pfizer vaccine, and booster shots may make the problem worse.

Jok... kao što rekoh na početku, tvoj izvor te laže... i to brutalno... u studiji iz Japana su ispitivali kako mogu da promene Delta soj tako da on izbegne vakcine i našli su da ako (veštački, u laboratoriji) ubace 4 mutacije, onda takav mutiran virus u velikoj meri izbegava vakcinu... budući da od te 4 mutacije koje su istraživači napravili, 3 slične mutacije su se već pojavile u Delta soju, njihov zaključak je da već treba raditi na vakcinama koje će targetirati Delta soj, a ne originalni, "divlji"... u tom kontekstu pišu i za bustere, ne da će pogoršati problem, već da neće ništa posebno uraditi ako se ne targetira specifično Delta soj...

mRNA-based vaccines provide effective protection against most common SARS-CoV-2 variants.
However, identifying likely breakthrough variants is critical for future vaccine development. Here,
we found that the Delta variant completely escaped from anti-N-terminal domain (NTD)
neutralizing antibodies, while increasing responsiveness to anti-NTD infectivity-enhancing
antibodies. Although Pfizer-BioNTech BNT162b2-immune sera neutralized the Delta variant,
when four common mutations were introduced into the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the
Delta variant (Delta 4+), some BNT162b2-immune sera lost neutralizing activity and enhanced the
infectivity. Unique mutations in the Delta NTD were involved in the enhanced infectivity by the
BNT162b2-immune sera. Sera of mice immunized by Delta spike, but not wild-type spike,
consistently neutralized the Delta 4+ variant without enhancing infectivity. Given the fact that a
Delta variant with three similar RBD mutations has already emerged according to the GISAID
database, it is necessary to develop vaccines that protect against such complete breakthrough
variants.

Getting the vaccine is ‘an act of love,’ Pope Francis said.

Pope Francis appealed to people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in what he called "an act of love," in a video message published on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

In the message, recorded in Spanish, Francis said that "thanks to God's grace and the work of many we now have vaccines to protect us from COVID-19."

The religious leader, who wields significant political and moral authority among the 1.3 billion Catholics in the world, appealed that shots be made widely available amid stark disparities in vaccination rates between the developed and the developing world.

"They bring us hope that the pandemic may end, but only if they are available to all and if we collaborate with one another," Francis said.

The message comes amid ongoing debate, especially in more conservative or religious communities, over the efficacy and safety of vaccines. In Poland, an overwhelmingly Catholic-majority country, local church authorities have sent mixed signals over vaccines and government public health efforts.

In North America, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops which represents the church in the country, said in March that Catholics should avoid the Johnson & Johnson vaccine over concerns about the use of fetal tissues.

Francis, who already in previous occasions had come out in favor of making coronavirus vaccines more widely available, reiterated his support for the jabs.

"Getting the vaccines that are authorized by the respective authorities is an act of love... Love to oneself, and love for one's family and friends," he said.
