John Morris

Dr. John D. Morris is the son of the late Dr. Henry Morris, and the President of the Institute for Creation Research. Dr. Morris speaks at a variety of churches, is an author, and serves as a professor of Earth Science and Apologetics at San Diego Christian College.

In 1969, Dr. John Morris received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In 1977 he received a M.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, as well as earned a Ph.D. in 1980. He was a research assistant from 1978-1980 and assistant professor of Geological Engineering from 1980-1984 at Oklahoma University as well.

Kent Hovind

Dr. Kent Hovind is a well-known evangelist in Biblical creationism. Converting to Christ at the age of 16, Hovind immediately began his personal ministry in reaching those around him with the message of the Bible. He expressed an interest in mathematics and science that eventually led to his enrollment at Illinois Junior College as a science major. After two years of undergraduate work, he then moved to Midwestern Baptist College of Pontiac, Michigan in 1974, where he received his bachelor of religious education.

Hovind taught high school science and math for fifteen years while completing his master’s degree in education. His Ph.D. dissertation on creation and evolution later inspired him to establish his ministry, Creation Science Evangelism, headquartered in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Hovind is a young earth creationist, and accepts the King James Bible of 1611 as God’s inspired Word for English speaking people.

Tax Fraud

On Thursday, November 2 2006, Kent Hovind was convicted by jurors on 58 counts of tax fraud. He was accused of failing to pay $845,000 in employee taxes at the Dinosaur Adventure Land. Jo Hovind, his wife, who wrote the checks and handled money, was also convicted of 44 counts involving evading bank-reporting requirements. The verdict: both were pronounced guilty of all charges. Dr. Hovind faces a maximum of 288 years in prison, and was taken into custody after the jury pronounced him guilty. Jo Hovind could face up to 225 years in prison, but was allowed to go home after the couple's verdict.

Kent Hovind, who still disputes the government's right to make him pay taxes, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on federal tax charges on January 19th, 2007.

Sentencing of his wife, Jo Hovind, on charges of evading bank-reporting requirements, has been been postponed indefinitely.

Controvery over Copyright on CSE Material

In September 2007, CSE inititiated takedown notices with YouTube and other video sharing sites in an attempt to remove material critical of Hovind. Hovind had said himself over many years and in many places that none of CSE's materials were copyrighted in any way. CSE have said that they are retrospectively applying copyright, even though materials waived of copyright can never again be subject to such a claim. In several cases, takedown notices were made against totally original parody material by third parties who neither used nor referenced any of CSE's works. Other takedown demands were levied against remixed material that quote segments of Hovind's video presentations and interleave them with commentary and refuting arguments, which is a use of (even copyrighted) material that is universally regarded as "fair use" by copyright law.

Jim Allan

James S. Allan has a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and is an international consultant in the field of dairy cattle breeding. He has continued to study genetics and was a former lecturer in genetics at the University of Stellenbosch.

Dr. Allan believed in the evolutionary theory for 40 years of his life. He wasn't concerned with the long-time requirements because he thought it was logical that natural selection and genetic drift in response to gene mutation and environmental change could explain the extent of adaptation. In his studies he would use biometric methods of analysis, measuring the rate of change in genes when they are put under different artificial selection theories. However, because of his predisposition as a lifelong evolutionist, he didn't question his results, and didn't consider the difference in genetic variation between short-term versus long-term natural selection.

After becoming a Christian, Allan began constantly reading the Bible. However, he still believed that evolution could explain the existence of life. He did not thoroughly look into the controversy until his wife asked him a simple question which started to shake his evolutionary beliefs. He started to ask questions and each question broke down his belief in evolution. Dr. Allan is now a committed creationist. He was one of 50 authors to contibute to the book In Six Days.

Russell Arndts

Russell T. Arndts obtained a Ph.D in Chemistry from Louisiana State University in 1968. In 1970 he became a full time chemistry professor at St. Cloud State University. It was during this time that some of his students encouraged him to take a closer look at evolution, and he was suprised to find weakness in some of the logic used to substantiate the claims of evolutionists.

In the early 80’s, he and fellow scientist Bill Overn began investigating a theory that isotopes were not always from radioactive decay, but could have been the result of already existing materials. They further established a mixing model as an alternative to isochrons. Arndts was a featured speaker at the 1983 National Creation Conference held in the Twin Cities. He retired from teaching in 1999, and since then has been helping Christians understand the creation worldview. Present writing have to do with the big bang and the reasoning process used by evolutionists.

Dr. Arndts currently serves on the advisory board of Creation Moments.

Chris Ashcraft

Christopher Wayne Ashcraft is a creation scientist, speaker, and educator.

He obtained the Bachelor of Science in biology from Wayland Baptist University in 1989 and a Masters of Science in biology from Texas Tech University in 1996. Following graduation from TTU, Ashcraft spent two years in a Genetics PhD program at Oklahoma State University, then accepted a position as a Plant Transformation Specialist for EDEN Bioscience. He was a research technician for 12 years specialized in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation technology. He is currently enrolled in a Masters of Education program at the University of Washington, and is a high school science teacher at North Sound Christian School where he teaches Biology, Chemistry, and Creation Apologetics.

He moved from research into teaching in response to a call from God to work in creation science missions. He has been active in the creation missions for over a decade. He is firmly committed to researching and teaching creation apologetics and speaks periodically at churches, schools, and creation organizations in the Northwest United States. He is the founder of the Northwest Creation Network and the CreationWiki internet encyclopedia where he serves as senior administrator. He also organizes the annual Seattle Creation Conference.

Professional Interests

He is interested in biotechnology, molecular biology, and gene-transfer techniques. He was a research technician for close to 10 years, specializing in plant tissue culture and genetic transformations. He has cultured and genetically transformed numerous crops, such as wheat, rice, tobacco, and Arabidopsis, but has worked with cotton most extensively.

He started in cotton tissue culture at the "Cotton Fiber Production Laboratory" at TTU beginning in 1989, then later assisted a cotton transformation project, among others, while providing technical support at the OSU "Plant Transformation Facility". More recently, he transformed cotton with 3 gene constructs for EDEN Bioscience in Bothell, Washington.

Don Batten

Dr. Donald James Batten was born and raised in a rural a part of Australia, and became a Christian at 10 years all thanks to a street preacher. He had heard a comment from a zoologist, and he realized that 'evolution is really a belief system parading around as science'. He is now a Creation evangelist working with Creation Ministries International in Australia, being a major contributor to their magazine Creation and their technical Journal of Creation.

Don Batten has a Ph.D. in plant physiology, from The University of Sydney.
